PROFILE: My interest for fishing was the first thing that got me in to test knife making about twenty years ago. This knife was meant to be used on all my great fish catches that I got back then. My first knife was not beautiful. In fact it was that ugly that I had to do another one, From that day I am stuck in the wonderful world of knife making. The last five years my interest for knife making and craftsmanship has increased not the least because my son now shares this interest. To be able to share the challenge of knife making and to experience the shows together is stimulating and worth a lot for us. Together we share the “sickness” one can be struck by testing to make a knife. That is now that far gone that we are both part time makers. One thing my knives has in common, they are all ”one of a kind”. I create different type of knives, from custom hunting knives to more exclusive art knives. I like to work with materials like mosaic Damascus in the blades and mammoth ivory, hippo teeth, mammoth teeth, stabilized wood, silver, gold and why not as top of the crown a precious gemstone in the handles. Art knives often leave the possibility for me to experiment with lines, shapes, colours and not the least with exclusive materials. I like challenges, to walk the thin ice even though I am not that good at swimming. Since 2005 I have tried to use more fossil materials and less wood in my knife. As I try to make more exclusive knives the material has to follow this ambition. At the same time it’s difficult as the prices on fossil material daily rises. But in the same time as you lay about 40-80 hours on each knife it has to be a challenge and you have to work with exiting materials which make it possible to here the wings of history.
